I remember that the casinos were sold with the promise that the income would keep our schools solvent and make us a first-class state in education. I haven’t heard that brought up for years.
When you get into office, I hope you will find increasing support for reducing and ultimately eliminating the money-draining effects of the seduction of gambling, so this state can build on income on something that has tangible value.
Have you heard of the internet gambling bill, being worked through Des Moines, as we speak? Talk about ruining lives! I have seen 3 of my close relatives do this for years, illeagally. I allerted all of the authorities, including the DCI, only to get the same answer. That answer was always; ” There is nothing we can do “. Even the DCI would refused to take a serious look at this. Now it is becoming a bill as we speak. Casinos are nothing compared to the illeagal internet gambling that is soon to be legal. Check into this Mr. V. and you will find your hands as tied as mine have been for about a decade. Again, the casino deal is nothing compared to the leagalization of internet gaming. Sincerely, Kevin Hosea
casinos turn over a lot of money to the state. This money helps the state pay their bills and employees wages. The more money they get from the casinos means less money they will take from me in the form of tax after tax after tax. We are paying tax on tax on taxes the way it is and getting sick of it.
i support competition.
